Frustrated Doctor Starts Wound Care Newsletter

Dr. Tamara Fishman has begun her crusade. With her free newsletter, The Wound Care Institute, Fishman has taken it upon herself to improve the distribution of current medical information.

The Wound Care Institute acts as both a media center and a scholarship program for students pursuing an education in diabetic foot problems or wound care. Fishman, founder of the institute, made the dissemination of up-to-date medical information the organization's first priority.

"I started the Institute to a large extent out of frustration. Every time I called a health care provider for information on wound care or diabetes, I got the run-around," Fishman said.

The newsletter offers medical articles directed to both the professional and the patient, including health tips, product information and book reviews. Anyone interested in wound care or podiatry may subscribe to the publication for free. The Wound Care Institute is a not-for-profit organization which gladly accepts donations.
