Wound Healing Made Easier

A new topical skin cream, Iamin Hydrating Gel, promises to ease the pain associated with chronic wounds by speeding the healing process and promoting a moister environment.

The blue, non-staining gel is designed to treat diabetic ulcers, pressure sores, first and second degree burns and abrasions, as well as other skin irritations. A unique copper ingredient has been shown to attract repair cells to wound sites, thereby speeding the healing process, according to ProCyte Corporation, the product manufacturer.

A 90 gm tube retails for $20 and is Medicare and Medicaid reimbursable. The gel is available without a prescription at some pharmacies and through medical product distributors, according to product manager Robin Carmichael.
