Diabetes Educators Raise $5,000 in Walk/Jog-a-Thon
During the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) annual meeting in Minneapolis this August, Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals held its 17th annual "Walk/Jog-A-Thon" for diabetes awareness. At the early hour of 6 a.m. on a Saturday morning, more than 800 diabetes educators raced for the company's pledge of $5,000 to the AADE Foundation.
Gregory Hagen of Wausau, Wisconsin, first crossed the finish line after 5 kilometers, leading the jogging contingent. The top walker was Suzy Terrell of Quitman, Texas.
"In this kind of race, everyone wins," said William Poole, president of Novo Nordisk, who also jogged the course. "We are proud to sponsor the race each year, to have some fun and to show our support for the AADE and the vital work they do in diabetes education."
