You know you need a calcium supplement, but that awful, chalky taste just makes it unbearable. A new, chocolate-flavored calcium chew might make it more tempting. It's called Viactiv, and it comes from Mead Johnson Nutritionals.
"Though it is especially important for women to be receiving proper calcium intake, this is a good supplement for men as well," says Emily Killmer, a spokesperson for Mead Johnson.
The Viactiv calcium chew contains 500 mg. of calcium per chew, plus vitamins D and K, and comes in milk chocolate or mochaccino flavors. A package of 12 costs from $1.49 to $1.89, and a 60-count canister runs about $7.
Mead Johnson says that the average woman needs two or three Viactiv chews per day, or 1,000 to 1,500 milligrams. Contact your doctor about the recommended calcium intake for you.
More information about Viactiv can be found at viactiv.com.
