Chai-Na-Ta Corporation of Langley, British Columbia, announced on September 12 that a research study using its North American Ginseng significantly reduced the blood glucose level of patients with type 2 diabetes.
The study, sponsored by the Ginseng Growers Association of Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, was conducted by the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Researchers found that taking three grams of North American Ginseng two hours before a meal can reduce blood sugar approximately 15 to 20 percent compared to a placebo. The study was published in the September issue of the Diabetes Care.
Chai-Na-Ta Corporation is the world's largest supplier of North American Ginseng.
