Many people with diabetes must have daily insulin injections to live. However, what happens to the billions of insulin syringes generated each year in the United States alone? Often, they are thrown in the trash, exposing family members, sanitation workers and landfill operators to accidental needle-stick injuries.
Because contaminated needles are too often discarded in a careless fashion, Safe Medical Systems of Atlanta, Georgia, has come up with The Voyager insulin needles disposal system for the safe discard of used insulin syringes and most lancets. In one easy step, the Voyager safely stores the used needles immediately after use, while simultaneously rendering the syringe barrel unusable.
The Voyager functions with all insulin syringes (1/3 cc, 1/2 cc, and 1 cc) and arrives completely assembled and ready for use. It is transportable and easily carried in a coat pocket, purse or backpack. The Voyager weighs less than 3 ounces and will hold over 100 used needles.
