Home Diagnostics, Inc (HDI) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, announced on December 13, 2000 that in less than one year, several top retailers have started co-branding with its Prestige Smart System (PSS) blood glucose monitor. The result, according to a HDI press release, has allowed customers to save on diabetes testing supplies.
Since April 2000, more than 20 current co-branding partners have adopted HDI's unique selling program for diabetes products.
Co-branding allows retailers to build brand equity, increase their profitability in the key pharmacy category and pass on approximately 40 to 60 percent savings to their customers while also connecting them to a nationally available brand.
“By lowering their customers' testing costs, retailers can encourage more frequent testing that can help their customers better manage their diabetes,” said HDI president and CEO Jim Corbett. "Additionally, retailers also recognize that co-branding provides consumer protection by giving their customers wide and open access to diabetes supplies."
Current co-branding retailers include Walgreen's (the first to co-brand), Albertson's, Brite-Life, Brooks, CVS/Pharmacy, Discount Drug Mart, Drug Emporium, Duane-Reade, Eckerd, Good Neighbor Pharmacy, Kerr Drug, Leader, Longs Drug Stores (the most recent to co-brand), Meijer, Navarro (Fla.), Osco Drug, Sav-On Drug, Shop Rite and Winn-Dixie.
