Type 1s Have a Greater Chance of Getting Asthma
Children with Diabetes Show Higher Worldwide Incidence
Researchers in Norway found that people with type 1 diabetes may have increased chances of developing asthma, as stated in the February 24 issue of The Lancet.
Studies among children in 16 European and 12 non-European countries showed that more people with diabetes had asthma than those who did not have diabetes, according to Lars C. Stene from Aker University Hospital and Per Nafstad from the National Institute of Public Health, both of Olso, Norway.
There was a higher incidence of the diseases in English-speaking countries, leading researchers to suggest that susceptibility to them may be caused by genetic make-up and/or early environmental exposures.
