AtLast No More
Alternate-Site Meter Discontinued
What was a groundbreaking blood-glucose meter only a few years ago has now been put out to pasture.
One month after acquiring Amira Medical—the Scotts Valley, California-based company that brought alternate-site testing to the diabetes community—Roche Diagnostics announced on December 6, 2001, that it was discontinuing the AtLast blood-glucose monitor.
According to a Roche press release, AtLast test strips, lancets and glucose solution will be distributed until April 30, to ensure that AtLast customers have adequate time to explore other blood-glucose monitoring options and make transitions. Roche adds that AtLast customers will have access to a replacement meter from the Accu-Check line of products, including the Accu-Check Active, which can be used for forearm testing.
