Accu-Chek Advantage Could Store Blood-Glucose Readings
The Accu-Chek Advantage blood-glucose meter could sometimes save a test result incorrectly in its memory feature, Roche Diagnostics has announced. The incorrect storage of a reading in the meter's memory could occur once every seven days.
Roche emphasizes that this problem does not affect the results that show up on the display immediately after testing.
The memory problem can occur under two sets of circumstances. If the time and date are set on your meter and you perform a test between 12:00 a.m. and 12:10 a.m., that result could be changed when it is recorded in the memory of the meter. Or, if the time and date are not set on your meter, one result every seven days may be stored incorrectly in the memory.
Roche recommends that you do not change your insulin therapy based on a single value recorded in memory. It also recommends that you retest your blood glucose if a result seems too high or too low or if the result is inconsistent with your previous results or trends. As always, you should consult your healthcare professional before making any adjustments to insulin therapy based on testing results.
