BD Offers Lancet/Pen Needle/Syringe Disposal
If you're still putting your used lancets, pen needles and syringes in a coffee can or empty detergent bottle and surreptitiously burying it under the empty cans and boxes in the trash because your community doesn't have a sharps disposal program, Becton Dickinson (BD) of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, has a solution.
BD Sharps Disposal By Mail, available from your pharmacy, is a kit that includes a 1.4-quart sharps container, a postage-paid return box, and additional packaging materials to send the sharps container through the mail when it's full. The container will be sent to a special facility for destruction.
The sharps container, which holds 70 to 100 insulin syringes or up to 300 pen needles or lancets, costs about $25.
