EMLA Temporarily Removed From Market
EMLA, an anesthetic cream made by AstraZeneca of Wilmington, Delaware, has been temporarily removed from the market. The cream is frequently used by insulin pumpers to numb the skin before inserting an infusion set.
Heather Law, from AstraZeneca's public affairs department, said that EMLA will be reintroduced to the market in mid-2003 in child-resistant closure tubes. Until EMLA is reintroduced, it will be available for use in hospitals only. For more information, call the AstraZeneca Information Center at (800) 236-9933.
