Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California, is seeking participants for a study that involves a six-week online workshop teaching self-management skills for people with heart disease, lung disease or type 2 diabetes.
Called "Self-Management @ Stanford," the interactive workshop is designed to help participants learn the skills they need to manage their chronic disease on a day-to-day basis and to maintain or increase their level of activity.
"By adapting the self-management courses to the online environment, Stanford hopes to reach people who wouldn't necessarily be able to attend community classes or who prefer online workshops," explained Katy Matthews, MPH, study coordinator, in a news release.
To participate in the workshop, you must have access to the Internet and an active e-mail account. Participation is free.
Participants are asked to log on two to three times a week, for a total commitment of one to two hours. You can work at your own pace and will have one week to get through each subject area.
For more information or to enroll in the study, call (800) 366-2624.
