Diabetes Adventure Tours
Diabetes Adventure Tours (the travel arm of the Diabetes and Wellness Foundation) is organizing a weeklong cycling trip designed especially for people with diabetes.
According to a press release, the bike trip will take place October 2-7, 2005, in Girona, Spain, and will offer people with diabetes a chance “to tour with other like-minded people in an environment that caters to them specifically.”
Participants will cycle 45 to 55 miles a day, but there will be longer and shorter options for both the avid and more leisurely cyclists. There will also be van support for repairs, refreshments and weary bodies.
“Each evening during the wine and cheese hour, there will be a discussion on topics relevant to the diabetic who is living an active, healthy lifestyle, such as nutrition management and the diabetic athlete. By the end of the vacation, guests will fully understand the essential benefits of exercise for managing diabetes.”
The trip costs $2,175 per person based on double occupancy. The trip cost does not include airfare.
