A Blood Glucose/Blood Pressure Monitor All in One
Eliminating the need for two separate devices
On January 31, 2006, GenExel-Sein, Inc., of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, announced it had received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for its Duo-Care device, which combines a home-use blood glucose monitor with a wrist blood pressure monitor—eliminating the need for two separate devices.
According to GenExel-Sein, Duo-Care’s blood glucose test provides results in only five seconds. It also provides accurate blood pressure measurements “for patients with normal circulation, as well as those with arteries that are hardening.”
“The links between diabetes, heart disease and stroke are clear and convincing,” says Douglas C. Stafford, MD, executive vice president of GenExel-Sein, Inc. “With the introduction of Duo-Care, we hope to empower users to obtain the information they need to better manage their health on a daily basis.”
