University of Pittsburgh researchers say that moderate weight loss improves arterial stiffness in people with type 2 diabetes.
“[Average] weight loss at one year in 38 volunteers with type 2 diabetes was 7.8 percent,” write the researchers. “There were improvements in A1C, LDL cholesterol, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance and inflammatory markers.”
