Dutch Doctors Detail “Cocktail” for Type 2s

A particular regimen Dutch researchers call the GAME regimen provides long-term BG control with less weight gain.

In a one-year study, 58 type 2 participants who failed on oral meds were treated with the GAME regimen—a combination of the oral med Amaryl administered at 8:00 pm, NovoLog three times daily, and metformin.

“HbA1c decreased from 10% to 7.4%,” write the researchers. “Fifty-nine percent reached HbA1c levels of [7.5% or lower].”

In addition, the researchers report that body weight tended to decrease during the first three months but then gradually rose to a value higher than at the beginning of the study.
