Contour Accurately Detects Hypoglycemia

Data presented at Diabetes Technology Meeting

Data presented at the November 2006 Diabetes Technology Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, found that the Contour Blood Glucose Meter from Bayer accurately detects hypoglycemia.

According to the study, 34 participants were given intravenous insulin in a controlled manner to obtain low blood glucose concentrations. Capillary blood samples were taken at various times after administration of insulin. Results were obtained for 181 capillary blood samples, with glucose values ranging from 36.9 to 116.8 mg/dl. Performance of the Contour meter was determined across the entire glucose range.

“The Contour meters were accurate in all ranges,” says Bayer Diabetes Care.
