People on Low Glycemic Diets Lose More Weight
An Australian review of six short clinical trials has found that low glycemic diets (which involve eating foods that raise blood sugar slowly instead of quickly) cause about two pounds more weight loss than calorie-restricted diets.
The review, published by the Cochrane Library, examined a total of 202 overweight people who dieted for up to six months. Even the participants who ate all the low GI food they wanted, apparently stuffing themselves to their hearts' content, lost as much or more weight than people on calorie restriction.
