Actos and Avandia Cost Plenty

According to Greek researchers, Actos and Avandia were behind a tripling of the cost of medicines used to treat Athenians with type 2 diabetes over the past eight years.

The average monthly cost of diabetes drug treatment at an Athens hospital rose from $32.44 in 1998 to $107.29 last year, and most of the rise was due to prescriptions of Actos and Avandia (helped a little by Plavix, a blood thinner, and statins).
