Investigate. Inform. Inspire. This statement is not only our commitment to you, the readers of Diabetes Health, but also a call to action. In our June/July print issue (available online June 1 under the Digital Edition tab), we've done some investigating. We tracked down educational agencies, websites, software, and applications, and we've listed them for you in our 2nd Educational Resource Guide.
Speaking of educational resources, we have an exciting announcement to make! Our iPhone app is ready to go, providing you with all of the content of Diabetes Health magazine for your iPhone. Now you can take us anywhere and share the information you find with your friends, family, and loved ones. We want to inspire you to inform others. Look for Diabetes Health Mobile at the app store, and make sure to check out the new Educational Resource Guide on your iPhone.
Informing you about what inspires us at Diabetes Health in terms of cutting edge research, new products, health information, and inspirational stories is very important to us. We start with a feature about "Meditation as Medication", in which Les Leventhal, a successful yoga teacher based in California, teaches us about the stress reduction technique that takes advantage of the very simple act of breathing.
Next, take a look at "Team Type 1 - Cyclers Race Against Diabetes." Team Type 1 is a professional bicycle racing team founded by Phil Southerland, who has type 1 diabetes. In addition to the men's team organized in 2006, Team Type 1 has since developed a women's team and a triathalon team.
Triathlete Ironman Jay Hewitt, our very own columnist, is featured in this issue in "Ironman Jay." Jay is a motivational speaker, member of the U.S. National Team for Long Course Triathalon, lawyer, father, and captain of Team Joslin at the Joslin Diabetes Center.
We move on to "Beware of Severe Hypoglycemia," by Diabetes Health advisory board member Dr. Robert Tanenberg, who rounds out our features with a case study and in-depth description of the how, what, why, when, and danger of going too low.
Try out the delicious recipes from "Marlene's Kitchen" and see what the latest developments are in our "What's News" section. Remember, we are all in this together, so let's do our best to investigate, inform, and inspire others!
