Billie Jean King, former professional tennis player and winner of 39 Grand Slam titles.
Earlier this year the IDF launched an initiative to get high-profile athletes and other celebrities with diabetes to pledge their support for World Diabetes Day by wearing the blue circle pin - the global symbol of diabetes - to promote diabetes awareness. We are proud to be able to showcase the following inspiring individuals who have not let diabetes get in the way of achieving their goals:
- Sean Busby, a professional snowboarder who has undertaken two successful expeditions to Antarctica.
- Missy Foy, an elite marathon runner who has twice qualified for the US Olympic Marathon Trials.
- Kris Freeman, a professional cross-country skier who has represented the USA in the Olympics.
- Bas van de Goor, an Olympic gold medal-winning volleyball player from the Netherlands.
- Billie Jean King, a former professional tennis player and winner of 39 Grand Slam titles.
- Sir Steve Redgrave, a five-time Olympic gold medal-winning rower from the United Kingdom.

If you know a high-profile individual with diabetes in your area, or any public figure willing to support the diabetes cause, take the opportunity this World Diabetes Day to get him or her to wear or promote the global symbol of diabetes. If you don't have the pin, no problem - any kind of blue circle alternative is welcome.
If you're successful, post your picture in our World Diabetes Day Virtual Museum - http://bit.ly/9kCKEG- and we'll make sure to share it with the global diabetes community.
You don't have to be a celebrity to promote the blue circle. Whoever you are and whatever your link to diabetes, we want pictures of you or your friends promoting the symbol!
Campeones del Círculo Azul
-----------------------------
