Smart Phone That Allows Users to See Which of Their Prescription Medications May be Draining Nutrients From Their Body
"Nutrient Depletions" is a new smart phone app that allows users to see which of their prescription medications may be draining nutrients from their body. The app, available at iTunes stores for $1.99, works on Apple's iPhone, iTouch, and iPad products.
Created by a collaboration between TwinSis, LLC, and NOCUBE, LLC, "Nutrient Depletions" stores information on the effects of 700 commonly prescribed medications on nutrients in the body. Users enter the names of the drugs they are currently taking or planning to take in order to see how the drugs affect nutrient levels.
Besides showing various drugs' effects on nutrient levels, the app offers a list of foods that can replenish lost nutrients. Users taking drugs that deplete calcium, for example, can compensate by ingesting extra calcium from the suggested foods.
The maker says that physicians and pharmacists can also benefit from the app by using it as a quick reference when determining the various effects of prescription drugs. The app also has an email function that allows users to share information with family, friends, and healthcare providers.
The information on the app was derived from public domain sources, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the National Cancer Institute, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
