Verizon App Helps Control Drug Costs
Medco Pharmacy for Smart Phones
Verizon Wireless and Medco Health Solutions have released "Medco Pharmacy," a mobile app for BlackBerry and Android smart phones aimed at Medco's 65 million pharmacy customers. The app has three features:
1. "My Rx Choices" guides users to pharmacies that sell prescription drugs at the lowest cost.
2. "My Medicine Cabinet" identifies potentially harmful drug interactions, based on a user's medical history.
3. "Prescription ID Card" allows online access to a user's Medco prescription drug card.
According to Medco, the app can provide lowest-cost options regardless of the number of medicines or pharmacies that a patient uses. Medco members can sign up to download the app by going to the company site.
