Mark the Season With Inspiration
Inspiration with the Divabetic Octoberfest
Winter might be on its way, but there's plenty of fall color to celebrate in the meantime. You can find fresh inspiration with the Divabetic Octoberfest, a series of events sponsored by the nonprofit wellness group for diabetic women.
This month features a "Diabetes Golden Rules by the Golden Girls" tour, with solid, no-nonsense diabetes education presented through the lens of sassy senior citizens. According to Max Szadek, Divabetic's founder and executive director, the shows " encourage women to adopt the bold, sassy persona of a diva to manage their diabetes self-care. And what better diva mentors than the Golden Girls?"
The month's events continue on the nonprofit's online radio station, Diva TalkRadio. Features such as "Diabetes Spotlight" and "Diabetes Roundtable" will include healthcare professionals and real-life inspiration. Episodes include a tribute to the late Ella Fitzgerald, who suffered from type 2 diabetes, a discussion about drinking and diabetes, and "Divabetic Diabetes Numerology."
