Mar 11, 2012

YouTube, Diabetes Health Videos, Medtronic, Mio Infusion Set, Quick Set Infusion Set

If you don't already know about Diabetes Health's extensive video presence on YouTube, now is a great time to head over to http://www.youtube.com/user/DiabetesHealth/featured.

The site currently has 74 videos produced by Diabetes Health and covering such topics as Celebrities, Food and Recipes, Diabetes Bloggers, Insulin and Insulin Delivery Systems, and Product Demonstrations.

One video we recommend you start with is a demonstration of Medtronic's Mio Infusion Set, available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epAsumExJOs&list=PLC2CB4A36D02DBE99&index=3&feature=plpp_video. The 1 minute 44-second video shows in a clear, step-by-step manner how easy it is to set up the Mio.

A related video from Medtronic, "Inserting Your Quick Set Infusion Set," is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvq6c5q21j8&list=PLC2CB4A36D02DBE99&index=4&feature=plpp_video.

How about some video content challenging groups like the JDRF and DRI for the miserable lack of progress in CURING TYPE 1 diabetes beyond mice and academia. I'm sick and tired of all the stroking and acting like they are doing all they can and they are our friends. At the end of the day, they are a business and we need to hold them accountable for the miserable lack of bedside results. Everyday there is a breakthrough and yet it remains with mice for decades or is forgotton altogether without ever being tried in people. I have been a type 1 for 30 years and refuse to accept it. It's the purposefully orchestrated lack of progress that prevents a cure. I keep hearing its a marathon, not a sprint! To me, they have yet to let the mice out of the starting blocks.
