Federal Trade Commission Charges Children’s Vitamin Manufacturers with Misleading Advertising
If you bought Disney or Marvel children’s vitamins, you may be eligible for a refund. The Federal Trade Commission, the nation’s consumer protection agency, charged NBTY, the company formerly known as Nature’s Bounty, with making false claims about certain multivitamins.
The FTC charges that, although the vitamins’ advertising suggests that the products contain a significant amount of DHA, an acronym for decosahexanoic acid, an essential omega-3 fat that is crucial for children’s vision and brain development, the actual DHA content was minimal.
To see if you are eligible for a refund, contact the product’s manufacturer using information on the box or bottle you purchased. Although the FTC does not resolve individual consumer complaints, it may be able to help you via the FTC Complaint Assistant using this link: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
