When compared with women with parents who did not smoke, those with at least one parent who smoked were found to have had a significantly higher rate of type 2 diabetes.
The study, published online by Diabetes Care, suggests that being exposed to secondhand smoke in childhood is associated with a higher rate of type 2 diabetes.
