This press release is an announcement submitted by DiabetesSisters, and was not written by Diabetes Health.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA-It's the only conference in the world focused on bringing together women with diabetes for a weekend that will educate, connect, and strengthen them in their journey.
DiabetesSisters announces the sixth Weekend for Women Conference to be held at the Embassy Suites San Francisco Airport in Burlingame, CA, from Friday, Oct. 4 to Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013. The theme of the conference is "Health, Wellness & Transformation."
"This Conference will challenge women's current view of their diabetes and the role it plays in their lives," says Brandy Barnes, DiabetesSisters' Founder and CEO. "The entire weekend will be a time for women to focus on themselves and start making positive changes that will transform their diabetes management."
Whether women are newly diagnosed or have lived with diabetes for years, connecting with other women who have diabetes to network, share experiences, and exchange resources is an invaluable part of the Weekend for Women Conference. Attendees also hear from leading experts and diabetes advocates during education sessions held throughout the day.
A detailed Conference agenda (including session topics and speakers) and a link to registration can be found at: https://diabetessisters.org/2013-weekend-women-san-francisco. Registration for the Weekend for Women Conference is $200 and includes breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, dinner on Saturday, attendance all education sessions, and many giveaways.
Natalie Strand, MD, part of the first all-female team to win CBS' "The Amazing Race" in 2010, will be the keynote speaker at Saturday evening's special dinner program. Strand will share her inspiring story of living with type 1 diabetes since 1991-and her determination not to let that diagnosis stop her from achieving her lofty life goals. Each conference attendee will also be recognized in a special dinner ceremony for the number of years she has lived with diabetes.
The third Partner's Perspective Program will take place simultaneously with the Conference at the same hotel. This unique program provides the partners, spouses, and significant others of women with diabetes a forum to better understand the physical and mental challenges they face daily. Through networking and information sessions, partners gain a better understanding of how to better support their partner in managing diabetes. Registration for the Partner's Perspective program is $75 per participant.
The Weekend for Women Conference in San Francisco will wrap up on Sunday morning, October 6. with the community-wide orange:will Diabetes Awareness Walk. The walk will start at 11:30 a.m. in front of the Embassy Suites Hotel and offer spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay. DiabetesSisters invites the entire community to join it for this family- and pet-friendly event to raise awareness of the unique issues faced by women with diabetes.
