Partners Involved, too, at DiabetesSisters' Weekend for Women

Sep 1, 2013

This press release is an announcement submitted by DiabetesSisters, and was not written by Diabetes Health.

DiabetesSisters believes no woman should be alone in her diabetes journey and will host women with diabetes from across the United States and Canada for the 2013 San Francisco Weekend for Women Conference Oct. 4 to Oct. 6. But the weekend also extends support to their loved ones through the Partner's Perspective Program.

DiabetesSisters introduced the Partner's Perspective Program in 2012. It offers a unique opportunity for the partners and significant others of women with diabetes to participate in educational sessions led by diabetes experts, socialize with others who understand their challenges, and learn tips to help build stronger relationships with their spouses or partners.

Sessions at the Partner's Perspective program cover diabetes basics, how to use a glucagon kit, diabetes technology, and the popular "diabetes police session." That forum provides tips for having an open conversation on how best to help your significant other in her diabetes journey.

As one attendee from last year's Partner's Perspective said, "Prior to this weekend, I had never met another husband whose wife had diabetes. Now, I feel like someone else can relate to what I go through... and I picked up some important tips to help me better support my wife so she can live better and longer with diabetes."

Registration is still open for the Partner's Perspective Program at $75 per attendee for the entire weekend. Partners are invited to join the orange:will Diabetes Awareness Walk Oct. 6 and the Celebration of Strength dinner Oct. 5 recognizing the number of years each woman has lived with diabetes. Register for the Partner's Perspective Program today at https://diabetessisters.org/2013-weekend-women-san-francisco.
