New Report Links Obesity and Cancer

A new report compiled by the World Cancer Research Fund has linked excessive body fat to 12 different types of cancer. This report found that obesity increased a person’s risk of getting a variety of cancers:

  • Colorectum
  • Endometrium
  • Esophagus
  • Gallbladder
  • Kidney
  • Liver
  • Mouth
  • Ovary
  • Pancreas
  • Prostate
  • Stomach

According to the World Cancer Research Fund, the prevalence of obesity has increased at the all-time fastest rate, so they agency has made recommendations to mitigate cancer risks. These include increasing physical activity, limiting fast food consumption, and eating a healthy diet. Additionally, it is recommended that nutritional needs are satisfied through diet alone rather than relying on supplements.
